Old church dedicated to the Dead, with a unique aisle. At the
entrance there is a nice portal and a window made of lava stone,
bringing sculptured the date of 1701, and the inscription:
IUDICATI SUNT MORTUI
Up the inscription there is a skull between two
sandglasses; besides we can read the following inscription on
a marble tablet:

The elegant and well-proportioned tower bell, of a
later period, was built over a flyover. The bigger bell dedicated
to the Souls in Purgatory, was made by the Administrator Gaetano
Lanzafame in 1824 and exactly on 25 of April, and the founder, Giuseppe
Randazzo from Catania, to melt the metal used the furnace lit for
the S. Alfio‘s bell; the smaller one dates back to 1862. In the
cellars, there is a room with the tools to mummify the bodies and
the Cemetery. |

After the late works of restoration removing the high
altar, it was brought back into use the subway of the tower bell
and it was made accessible the ancient underground church in the
room used for the mummification. A picturesque Crib is prepared
on the occasion of Christmas in the outside place every year. |
