One of the first two floors house built after the
earthquake in 1693, almost ruined by the following restorations
is in via Vittorio Emanuele in front of Zappalà’s Palace.
Interesting the balcony with the overhangs in lava
stone with the following inscription on the gable:
TIMETE DEUM ET DATE ILLI HONOREM
|
|
On the small door there is a round window
of a previous period with an iron lattice. Near the corner a green
Caltagirone ceramic plate with an inscription in black, “ LARGO MARINO”,
certainly referring to the small triangle space in front of the house,
that it probably belonged to the same owner and then abandoned by
him. |
|
The plate, either as material or manufacture, is part
of the toponomy and of the system of numbering of the town established
in 1700 as we can note in the whole old built-up area. |
