This building is situated in Via Vittorio
Emanuele and certainly it dates back to the first years of the Principi
Di Giovanni dominion in Trecastagni; it was built as Vicaria (residence
of the Vicar of the Lord of the place, that, having also the personal
responsibility of the convicts, he held them to expiate the punishment
in the undergrounds of his residence), it became ownership of the
Town Hall, which adapted the first floor to a postal Office and the
second one for a Concert of the Orchestra. |
To note at the corner the original pillar with spur in lava stone,
that it supports the marble coat of arms of Prince Scipione II and
the pure windows in stone of the second floor. The lunettes with grilles
of iron on the first floor, that was the prison to which one had access
through a situated trap door on the floor of the second floor or Vicaria,
were completely destroyed in the second half of the last century and
replaced with doors. |
