Trecastagni Town
Entrance to the Convent Wood

It is a ruin, visible climbing up Via Macello.

It is a nice portal built in 1660 using the lava stone surrounded by four merlons; in the middle there is the coat of arms of the S.Francesco of Assisi Order engraved on a white stone.

The friars used this entrance to enter the convent without passing from the main door crossing all the wide wood that surrounded the building and that extended as far as where there is now the Town Theatre. It is deplorable that for a short time this ruin has had to suffer an indecent defacement.

The above-mentioned arch was placed in a place closest to the convent and restored after the works to do the new square.
